Robby Bolleyn in Galerie Persoon, Eersel, The Netherlands
05 November 2022 - 18 December 2022
Galerie Persoon will host a 6 week solo exhibition centered around Robby’s recent series, «Afrique Sauvage».
For the series 'Afrique Sauvage' Robby made a selection of images that for him symbolise the historical wild Africa; the worn out facial expressions of Swahili fishermen, portraits of Swahili women on Zanzibar who gracefully shine in all the usual oriental splendour, lions on the prowl in the Serengeti, ancient tribes surviving in desolate Ethiopia. With an eye for detail and tradition Robby brings an ode to rough Africa, his Africa.

The Rolex Awards for Enterprise, Geneva
2004
Since 1976, Rolex has honoured extraordinary individuals who possess the courage and conviction to take on major challenges.
Each Rolex Award for Enterprise is given for a new or ongoing project anywhere in the world - one that deserves support for its capacity to improve lives, or protect the world’s natural and cultural heritage. These projects have touched all aspects of humanity by expanding knowledge or improving life on the planet.
Robby’s image of a bonobo family was selected by Rolex to honour the conservation work of the Laureate Jo Thompson, American primatologist. Fascinated by bonobos since her childhood she has dedicated more than a decade to conserving them in their natural habitat. In 1992, she initiated a programme of research and conservation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Despite years of often violent political unrest, this project survived.
